The illustration on the right shows how to measure for bedspreads, coverlets, bed scarves, and dust ruffles.

The measurements needed are the mattress length and width, as well as the relevant "drop". The drop lengths are shown for the various items. For bedspreads measure from the top of the mattress to the floor. For coverlets, and bed scarves measure from the top of the mattress to the bottom of the mattress (not the box spring!) And for dustruffles, measure from the top of the box spring to the floor.
